Pigeon Point

July 9, 2022

Pigeon Point is located along Highway 1 about halfway between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz. The main attraction is the Light Station, which is closed to the public for many years now awaiting its renovation. You can read more about its history, plans for the future, and tips for visiting here.

Pigeon Point offers spectacular views and there are many captivating rock formations in the near vicinity. I have been there before at one time while it was engulfed by dense fog - a common occurrence for this part of the Northern Pacific coastline. The pictures I made back then are moody, mind you, there is not much to see of those intriguing boulders.

Last weekend I decided it was time to go back and explore it one more time. I made sure there was no fog, though I had to wipe down the filters on my lens between pictures as there was a lot of moisture in the air. Still, the rock formations presented themselves in their beauty and I came home with a few pictures I am very happy with.
