Top 10 Favorites of 2021

December 16, 2021

The year comes to an end, which means I am going through my pictures of 2021 and select my ten favorites. It is a process I enjoy because come mid-December the days are getting shorter and it is a good time to reflect about my passion. And like always, I'm a little bit surprised how many pictures I actually was able to make.

This year there is a perfect balance between treescapes and seascape. I went hiking a lot this year and naturally I came home with plenty of pictures of fascinating trees. "Bäume am Feldrand" is from a visit to my hometown in Southern Germany in summer. I also managed to explore parts of the Pacific Coast I had or had not visited before. My favorite treescape of the year is probably "The Striking Branch Tree" and my favorite seascape of the year is probably "Garrapata - No 7".

I wish you all a Merry Christmas, a Peaceful New Year and be kind!

    Hi Stefan,

Black and White images requires a careful balance in tone between shadow and light. I am pleased to see you know how to get that result, and these monochrome landscapes are sublime. I am glad you had a great 2021 and let's all have a great 2022.

  • Great images! I would love you to the roundup of photographers' top images of 2021 over at photographyandtravel.com (like what Jim Goldstein used to do up until a couple years ago). Here is a link to the submission form if you are willing. Thanks.
