Top 10 Favorites of 2022

December 19, 2022

Time is flying. The year 2022 is nearly over and for some reason it did feel shorter than previous ones. So I guess it is time for my favorite photos of the year post. I cherish this annual exercise because it invites me to reflect about the past twelve months as far as making images is concerned. So without further ado, below are my top 10 favorite images of the year:

Perhaps this year had more foggy days than regular years. Or at least that is how I experienced it, since I made several images I am rather pleased with, where fog engulfs the scene and thereby adding a lot of mood.

The Pacific Coast in Northern California is still my favorite place to explore and to make images of. Though this year I did not have as many opportunities as I would have liked. Why? I don't know. But like at the end of every year, I have the firm resolution to spend more time at the coast next year. All the same, I am very satisfied with these four images. One of them even has a tree as the main subject. I couldn't ask for more.

"Baumreflektion in der Wörnitz" is from a visit to Southern Germany in the summer. It reminds me how beautiful my native homeland, the Ries, actually is.

A Top 10 annual summary could of course not be without a unique and wonderful tree. I came across this beautiful pine tree during a hike at the Stanislaus National Forest in California.

And finally, I continue to be on the lookout for simple and abstract images of architectural details. Like the one below I made during a visit to the Cantor Center for Visual Arts at Stanford University.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Peaceful New Year. And be kind!
